A Trailblazing Victory: WWE's Money In The Bank Shatters Records, Proving UK's Passion for Wrestling and Becomes the Highest-Grossing Arena Event in WWE History
WWE made an exciting announcement today, revealing that the recent Money In The Bank event, held at The O2 in London on Saturday, has achieved unprecedented success. This edition of Money In The Bank has now become the most successful and highest-grossing event of its kind in WWE history. Notably, it has also set a remarkable record as the highest-grossing arena event ever hosted by WWE.
In addition to the overwhelming success of Money In The Bank, Friday Night SmackDown, which also took place at The O2, cemented its place in history as the highest-grossing SmackDown episode of all time. The weekend as a whole generated an astounding combined gate revenue surpassing $5.4 million.
Money In The Bank (MITB) also set new records for viewership, sponsorship, merchandise and social media:
- Viewership surged by 17% over last year's record, and outperformed the previous U.K. premium live event, Clash at the Castle, by 30%.
- Sponsorship revenue rose by an impressive 9% compared to the previous record set in 2022.
- Money In The Bank achieved a historic milestone by becoming the highest-grossing arena event for venue merchandise in WWE history.
- With its tremendous success, Money In The Bank established a new record for On Location fan experience packages, making it the highest-grossing non-WrestleMania event ever.
- The event made waves on social media, garnering the title of the most social Money In The Bank to date. The Bloodline Civil War match alone accumulated 40 million video views within the first 48 hours—a staggering four-fold increase from the top clip at Night of Champions, featuring Jimmy Uso super-kicking Roman Reigns.
Furthermore, Friday's episode of SmackDown on Fox garnered an impressive total of 2.51 million viewers, exhibiting a notable increase of 17% compared to the previous year. Notably, it secured the top spot in the coveted 18-49 demographic, boasting a .7 rating and attracting 897K total viewers, a remarkable surge of 39% compared to the same period last year.
Christian D’Acuña (Senior Programming Director at The O2) said: “Hosting the first WWE Premium Live Event to take place in London in over 20 years is something we’re really proud of – it was a huge moment both for us as a venue and for WWE fans in the UK. There was an incredible atmosphere across the whole site as fans were immersed in the world of WWE from the minute they arrived at The O2. We want to say a massive thank you to the teams at WWE and Triple A Entertainment, and can’t wait to bring WWE back to London again soon.”
