Sad Passing of Jamin Pugh: Father, Husband, Brother and 13-Time ROH Tag Champion
It is with sadness that the wrestling community mourns the sudden passing of Jamin Pugh, known to wrestling fans around the world as Jay Briscoe, aged 38. Jamin was one half of the current Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions, The Briscoes, along with his brother Mark.
Tragically, Jamin was involved in a road accident at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 17th, 2023 in Laurel, Delaware, resulting in his death and leaving his two daughters who were in the car at the time in critical condition. An emergency report indicated two people had died in the accident.
Jamin’s 12-year-old daughter Gracie initially lost feeling from the waist down due to fractures in her back, in addition to compression on her spinal cord. After being transferred to a different facility and undergoing surgery to relieve the pressure on her spinal cord, Gracie has experienced some tingling in her feet.
His younger daughter Jayleigh suffered fractures of her tibia and fibula, a neck fracture, fractures in her back, a broken rib and a perforated bowel among other injuries. She underwent surgery and will be in a brace for six weeks and twelve weeks respectively.
The wrestling community have paid tribute to Jamin, with AEW & ROH Owner Tony Khan and WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H plus many more offering their condolences. Jamin was a 13-time ROH Tag Team Champion.
Jamin was married to wife Ashley, and was the father of three children – two daughters and a son. His daughters are Jayleigh and Gracie and his son is Gannon. To help ease any burden that may arise from this tragedy, with approval from the family, a GiveSendGo campaign has been setup and as of Friday evening, it had raised USD $228,626. Wrestling stars such as Chris Jericho, Matt and Nick Jackson and Cody Rhodes have all donated to the campaign and you can donate too at www.givesendgo.com/pughlove.
At this time, there is no information about a funeral for Jamin Pugh, but we can pray for his daughters as they continue to recover. We also urge people to donate to the GiveSendGo campaign to help the Pugh family as they come to terms with this awful tragedy. Let us remember Jamin Pugh and all that he achieved in his short life.
